Dr. Catherine Kahabuka is a distinguished health strategist and research consultant with over a decade of dedicated service in public health, education, and innovation in healthcare sectors across sub-Saharan Africa. Holding a PhD in Health Systems from the University of Bergen, Norway, an MD from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, Tanzania, and a Master’s degree in International Public Health, Dr. Kahabuka's robust academic and professional experience positions her as a leader in her field. Her career is marked by significant contributions to various public health areas including Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH), HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Education and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). As the founder of CREMES International, she has led over 100 research projects, including more than 50 evaluations of large donor-funded programs, with her work influencing health policies and practices in Tanzania and beyond. Her partnerships span prestigious institutions such as WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, DFID, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Oxford, and Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Kahabuka is renowned for her expertise in qualitative and mixed research methods and her role as a mentor under the Data for Health (D4H) program at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Kahabuka actively supports strategic planning for major NGOs including Amref, the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation, and MDH. Her commitment to building capacity in research and health-systems strengthening is further exemplified by her founding of the CREMES Research and CREMES Consulting Mentorship Programs, enhancing research capacity across six African countries, including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Nigeria.
